  • Standard Size Pillow Dimensions

Size of a standard pillow: 51 x 66 cm

Standard pillow size is a perfect fit for a twin or a full-size mattress. If you have a twin mattress, one standard-size pillow is fine. If you have a full mattress, you can use two standard bed pillow size pillows to cover the entire width of the mattress. As it is the smallest pillow, to fill the width of a king-sized mattress, you’ll need at least three standard size pillows.

  • Super Standard Size Pillow Dimensions

Size of a super standard pillow: 20 inches by 26 inches

If you are looking for a pillow larger than the standard size pillows and smaller than the other pillow sizes, this one can be a sweet spot for you.

For twin or full-size mattresses, one pillow would work fine. However, for a queen mattress, you may use two super standard pillows.

  • Queen Pillows Dimensions

Size of a queen pillow: 51 x 76 cm

As you must have guessed, queen size pillows work perfectly with queen-size mattresses. Queen pillow sizes are exclusively designed for more extensive beds. For a twin bed, one queen size pillow is enough.

About pillowcase sizes, unfortunately, many companies don’t offer a queen-size pillowcase. In case you don’t have one, you can use a king-sized pillowcase or a standard pillowcase.

  • King Size Pillow Dimensions

Size of a king pillow: 51 x 92 cm

Ideally, king size pillows are used with a king-sized mattress. However, if you use it on a twin-size bed, there will be only 1-inch of space left beside each side of the pillow.

Standard or any other size pillowcases won’t fit with the king pillow size. Make sure you purchase only king-size pillowcases for them.

  • Body Pillow Size

Size of a body pillow: 51 x 137 cm

Body pillows are the longest of all the pillows. These long pillows can only be fit on a queen or king-sized mattress. These pillows are a great fit during pregnancy or for side sleepers. Due to its different sizes, only a body pillowcase would suit this pillow.

How to Measure a Pillow

Measuring a pillow is not a challenging task, but if not done correctly, you can end up getting the wrong measurements. First things first, use a firm carpenter’s tape to measure the pillow.

Hold both ends of the pillow, and measure from one corner to another. Don’t measure diagonally or from the center. As you have noticed, all the measurements mentioned above are whole numbers. Another thing is to make sure your measurements are in whole numbers. You may need to round off your measurements for this.

How to Choose a Pillow Size

A perfect size pillow can help you get the comfortable sleep that you always wanted. The right size depends on various factors like mattress size, sleeping positions, and many other factors. Here are a few factors to help you choose a pillow size.

  • Mattress Size

Mattress size is essential as it tells you how well a pillow will fit on your bed. If you use smaller beds like twin beds, you can fit only one pillow on your bed. Smaller pillow sizes will allow a little more space on the bed. Large pillows like king and queen beds will leave no extra space on the mattress.

  • Cost & Value

Standard pillows are the most budget-friendly and easily available pillows. The most expensive of them is the king-size pillows. You will need king-size pillowcases for these pillows. For standard size and queen size, you can use the cases interchangeably.

  • Bedding

Overall, the sleeping environment is also essential. Many people like to place pillows for aesthetic reasons. Euro pillows and throw pillows can help you in enhancing the overall look of your room.

  • Versatility

If you need a versatile pillow, a standard pillow will be your best option as it will fit easily on most beds and is suitable for kids and adults. Due to their small size, these pillows are also travel-friendly.

  • Sleep Position

This is the most critical factor in deciding a pillow size. A standard size pillow is the most versatile of all the other options, and it goes with all the sleeping positions. As its loft isn’t too high, it’s best for stomach and back sleepers.

A king pillow will be good for side sleepers due to its extra volume. Back sleepers would also enjoy the extra length of the king pillows. Stomach sleepers need thin and soft pillows for their spines. If you sleep on your back or stomach, a euro pillow would be great for you.

Conclusion
