Sleep apnea is no joke.

Thousands of people in the US are afflicted with this condition, and more are diagnosed every year. It can be extremely dangerous for your health, the long term conditions can include dementia, heart disease, and even death. Not only that, but the short term conditions can also take a toll both mentally and physically.

So what are the symptoms of sleep apnea, and what can you do when you find them?

It’s important to look at the quality of your sleep. Sleep apnea has to do with airflow, so if you’re snoring a lot there is a good chance that you have sleep apnea. Even if you do snore though, a sleep apnea diagnosis isn’t necessarily the cause of those noises — which is why it’s important to take a holistic approach to figure out what are your symptoms for sleep apnea.

When we say sleep quality, we’re talking about how you feel in the morning when you get up. Are you tired after sleeping for a full eight hours? This could be a symptom that you aren’t falling into the deep REM sleep because of breathing difficulties. If you experience these symptoms, it’s important to go see a physician for an official diagnosis. There are breathing tests and sleeping tests that they can give to you so that you can start your road back to breathing and sleeping better.

So what are the symptoms of sleep apnea? Tiredness, trouble breathing, and loud snoring. If you suspect something is wrong, seek a medical professional for a complete diagnosis.
