Awara vs Brentwood: Mattress Construction

Awara is good for the wallet and kind on the planet. While Brentwood is undoubtedly the latter, the prices are not low. Awara is available in all standard sizes and is made of four plush layers. It is 10 inches thick and rates 7 on the firmness scale. Brentwood on the other hand is 12 inches thick and is 5 on the firmness scale. It is made of five layers.

Material and Construction:

The topmost layer of Awara is made of a super luxurious cover with New Zealand wool. It also has naturally sourced cotton, which wicks moisture, reduces bacteria, and promotes airflow. With Brentwood, you get organic wool, natural thermoregulation and fire retardant.

The second layer of Awara comes with breathable natural Dunlop latex. Here, you get 2 inches of FSC organic certified layer that contours your curves perfectly and optimally supports pressure points and joints. With Brentwood, you get 4 inches of latex to offer targeted support and contouring.

The third layer of Awara is made of a premium coil support core, which comes with individually wrapped coils to enhance breathability and curb motion transfer. Brentwood gives you a renewable organic hemp fiber pad, which acts as a transition layer.

The fourth layer is made of easy-to-move handles. Here, you get a beautiful cotton blend with a supportive base. Brentwood offers a coil layer and a base layer with recycled denim.

Firmness:

Awara is rated 7 on the firmness scale, which gives you medium-firm comfort and support. It is neither too soft nor too firm and is suitable for all types of sleepers. However, Brentwood is rated 5 on the firmness scale and some may find it too soft.

Thickness:

Awara is 10 inches thick and Brentwood is 12.

I purchased the Awara Natural Hybrid Mattress King Size during their black Friday sale bundle (Nov 2022). We have had the mattress for about a month now and I love the firmness of the mattress. It is very high quality. The mattress was delivered fairly quickly. I am satisfied so far! Would recommend it to friends and family if they are looking for a reasonably priced environmentally friendly mattress.

I highly recommend this mattress, particularly for side sleepers. The quality is excellent and seems like it will have great longevity.

I did extensive research when shopping for a new mattress. I chose Awara over the competitors based on the reviews and the information provided on t h e Awara website.  This is an excellent quality mattress and the best mattress that we have ever purchased.  There is a nice balance between softness and firmness. No more back, shoulder, or hip pain. No more tossing and turning all night long. There is also no dip when sitting on the side of the bed. My husband and I are both side and back sleepers. Finding a mattress that meets our sleeping needs over the years has never been successful.  My mattress shipped earlier than expected which was great. There were no odors or fumes emitted from the mattress. The pricing was competitive compared to similar mattress companies.  I highly recommend that you choose AWARA for your mattress needs.

It sucks and customer service sucks too I sent an email to have the mattress pick up for a return and I have not received a reply.

Painful to sleep on without an extra topper. The oceano topper you sold to me was outgassing so badly that I couldn’t keep it in my house. Am awaiting the delivery of my new bed from a local natural mattress company so that I can return both the mattress and topper.

I love that is organic and made with good materials, but it also has to be comfortable. It’s got ridges going up and down vertically that are visible even through the sheets and I can easily feel it with my hand. I’m a side sleeper and it’s not quite soft enough for shoulders, but then doesn’t have enough support for hips. Not sure how to navigate this. I would probably get a mattress with more support for hips and some kind of pillowtop for shoulders.

Conclusion

Ding, ding, ding. The clear winner here is Awara. It is an eco-friendly mattress that doesn’t burn a hole in your wallet, and at the same time, it is good for the planet. Whereas Brentwood is an expensive choice. And let’s not forget the forever warranty. With Awara, you are sorted for lifetime.
